An answer about when to stop painting

I went for drinks and dinner with a artist friend of mine, Brian B. He said that the question about when to stop is at the core of his own activities around painting. His solution, he said, is to make make multiples of the same painting.  At some point the “real” or more successful painting will stand out.  He make large works compared to me so doing multiples for him is a great effort. He said that given the size of my work, often not much more that 8.5″X11″ , it would be more easier for me to do.  Well this one take on it.  I will consider his advice. Dinner by the way was lovely. It was a great Japanese place called Village Yokocho, near the Saint Marks Book store here in Manhattan. Google it.
