Sake Stove and Incense Burner

ImageI have been doing for me, some fairly large painting recently. I got new paper and I was not sure how it would respond to paint. So instead of launching into another large work I thought it would be fun and helpful to scale down and experiment. So I started a new series of still lives. Actually, Un-still-lives, In that with smoke and fire there are elements in motion,.

The Baptistery #3 is finished

The Baptistery of a church was once a place on Lexington Ave.  where my best friend and I went to talk, when he visited me at the Center for African Art . This was when the museum was located near Hunter College N. Y. C.   The Baptistery is a theme I have return to from time to time. The juxtaposition between the Christian and the Pagan is my interest here.

I have been slowly working on this painting. It is a theme that I have gone to more than once; the baptistery. I am enjoying the work on this one.
