A Sailor Ashore

This is a small painting, about the size of the palm of my hand. I sort of like that it is so small yet comes across as somewhat monumental. There is an Indian statue of Krishna at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum that comes across like that. In a photo it seems life size and in reality it is the size of your thumb. This small painting was unfinished for years. I went back to finish it. It took an hour or two to set everything right. Since it was so small I scanned rather than use a camera. I think the scanner gives an excellent image. I wish I could get my larger works on to the scanner. See details here
